"The San Francisco 49ers may not beat the Giants in Sunday's NFC Championship Game, but regardless of the result, Vernon Davis will be celebrating.

The Niners' star tight end will host an NFC championship after-party at Manor West, a popular dance club in San Francisco. It's a move that easily could be construed as a sign that Davis and the Niners expect to win. The club vehemently insisted that this is not a premature victory celebration, or "an attempt by anyone to predict victory on Sunday."

"We all have our fingers crossed and our hearts on our sleeves in solidarity with Niners fans everywhere that this will indeed be more than just an after-party for the NFC Championship Game but also a Super Bowl pre-party," Manor West said on its website. "If the football gods are not on our side this weekend, we will still remain proud, determined and hopeful for the seasons ahead."

Jamie Burwood, a spokesman for the club, tried to downplay the significance of the preplanned fete.

"We've been getting a little bit of fuss about it and that's not what it is at all," Burwood said. "It's not a victory party. It's a party celebrating the 49ers' season for making it so far. The party is going on win or lose. Vernon Davis will be there win or lose.""
