If things go well...
Zzzzzzz...oh sorry, must have dozed off there for a minute. The San Antonio Spurs are the most boring team in the NBA...if winning 50+ games every year and coming within one possession of the NBA Championship last season is boring. The Spurs' success is build off incredible team chemistry, hall-of-fame coaching, along with talent and depth at every position. Since the Spurs came so close last season they felt there was no need to drastically change the roster during the summer, and will likely handle their roster with kid-gloves during the regular season (plenty of rest of the old men) to save up for playoff time. Their goal is to win the championship and nothing less will be a success.
If things go poorly...
The roster is great, the coaching is great, the fans are great, the talent is great. There are only two things that can keep the San Antonio Spurs from duplicating their successful 12/13 season...the injury bug and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Obviously, with the advanced age of the core of this team is it very important that Ginobili, Duncan, and Parker get their proper rest to stay healthy. Popovich has been down this road before and I'm sure he has a proper plan in place to keep them fresh. The second factor is the Thunder. Many experts agree that if Russell Westbrook hadn't been injured during the playoffs last season, the Spurs wouldn't have even gotten out of the West...well, he's back. The combination of player rest and the Western conference being tougher should lower the regular season win total of the Spurs this season. But look out again in the playoffs.
