If things go well...
They’ll repeat as division champions as the Lakers will suffer without Kobe and Warriors are not at the level the Clippers currently are. Chris Paul is the best guard in the league and is surrounded by players that know how to play defensively, creating the most steals in the league last season. They run a high tempo offense and defense that puts a ton of pressure on opposing teams. With the addition of Doc Rivers, it’s hard to imagine this team getting better, but they are now true contenders in the West and will push the rest of the top teams to the limit. With the talent here now, an NBA finals is a realistic goal for this team and Rivers.
If things go poorly...
If Chris Paul runs into injury issues again, this team loses its leadership and offensive weapon. Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan are not good enough to lead this team in his absence, so Rivers will have to implement a system that can attempt to survive without him. They will still win games in the regular season, but they will not make it out of the first round. Even if he is healthy, Paul has never played in a Conference finals so he needs to step up his playoff leadership abilities now that he has a smart coach and top talent around him.
