Swansea’s Spanish hitman Michu is wanted by Anzhi Makhachkala – before the Russian transfer window shuts on Monday night, writes Alan Nixon of the Sunday People.

Michu is being offered a huge pay-day at crisis club Anzhi, who have crashed to the bottom of the Russian league after major cash cutbacks.

Now their wealthy backer Suleyman Kerimov seems to have realised his mistake in letting players of the calibre of Samuel Eto’o and Lacina Traore leave and wants to get Michu in fast.

The 27-year-old, a huge hit at the Liberty Stadium last season, has been out of action with an ankle injury this year but is fit again and ready to move.

The Welsh club may choose to take a big cash sum for Michu, who was brought in by former boss Michael Laudrup.

Chairman Huw Jenkins will listen to a serious bid from Anzhi, with a deal of £6million-plus likely.

The Russian club could ask to take him on loan, with a big survival bonus if he helps keep them up, but that is unlikely to appeal to Jenkins.

Swansea have replaced Michu with Wilfried Bony and also have surprise signing David Ngog for cover.

Jenkins and caretaker boss Garry Monk should have enough in their ranks to get through the campaign safely.
