Texas Rangers slugger Prince Fielder is in the lineup Tuesday batting fifth as the designated hitter against the Seattle Mariners.

Fielder, 30, was given a nerve-root injection Saturday morning in hopes that it would alleviate some of the neck pain. He did not play Saturday or Sunday, ending his consecutive games streak at 547.

General manager Jon Daniels said over the weekend that Fielder mentioned the pain to the club about three weeks ago and was trying to play through it. But it was something the team believes goes back to last year.

Fielder is hitting .247 with three homers and 16 RBIs. He was batting .350 in his last 12 games before Saturday.
