Have the Nationals already hired Dave Martinez as their new manager?

Fox reporter Ken Rosenthal reported Friday the Cubs' bench coach was the front-runner for the position, but an unusual source said Friday afternoon it's already a done deal. Wade Boggs, a friend and former teammate of Martinez with the Rays, tweeted his congratulations.

Boggs is not a typical source for news like this, but if you can't trust a 12-time All-Star and member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, who can you trust?

After falling in five games to the Cubs in the NL Division Series, Washington opted to fire Dusty Baker after two seasons and 192 victories.

The 53-year-old Martinez, who played in the majors from 1986 to 2001, joined the Cubs' staff after the 2014 season. He previously coached seven seasons for the Rays.
