Texans starting safety Danieal Manning has been asked to restructure his contract, a move that would reduce his salary and cap numbers and allow him to stay with the team, a source said.

Manning, who turns 32 in August, was scheduled to make a base salary of $4.5 million this season, with a cap number of $6 million, in the final year of his contract. He initially signed with the Texans before the 2011 season, a four-year deal worth $5 million a year with a total guarantee of $9 million.
