The Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers have inquired about trading for Idaho Stampede point guard Pierre Jackson of the NBA Development League, a league source informed

At the current time, the New Orleans Pelicans, who own Jackson’s rights, have not been approached with a deal to their liking, another source explained.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Pelicans decide to bring Jackson up this season rather than trading their D-League star, the league source said. New Orleans has 15 players on its roster, the max an NBA team can carry.

New Orleans making some kind of a move at the Feb. 20 trade deadline is believed to be a given, said one rival General Manager.

Jackson, 22, is a 5-10 scoring guard who is absolutely tearing up the D-League competition to the tune of averaging 29.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 31 appearances.

He has scored 40 or more points seven times this season and not too long ago he set a D-League record with 58 points in a 136-122 win over the Texas Legends.
