Thanks to the efforts of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell the touchdown dance isn’t as innovative and prevalent in 2014 as it has been in previous generations. Silly anti-fun rules have been installed and a 15-yard penalty has been added to deter celebrations - because who wants to see athletes having fun?

Joseph Fauria chronicles the history of the touchdown dance in this video. The Lions tight end starts with a ‘vigorous handshake’ and before touching on timeless classics like ‘the funky chicken’, ‘the primetime’ before venturing into more modern celebrations like ‘the putt-putt’ and my personal favorite ‘the Raji roll’.
