All of the tension of trade deadline day in the NHL came to a head on Wednesday night in Philadelphia as the Flyers and the Washington Capitals got into it in the first period.
A couple of interesting notes from the video:
1. Great sportsmanship by Tom Wilson of the Caps. Luke Schenn was down on his knees and had his legs tied up with Ryan Stoa. Instead of filling Schenn's face with fist sandwiches, Wilson waited for Schenn to get free and they engaged from a standing position.
2. Great tag-team effort by Vinnie Lecavalier and Steve Simmonds on John Erskine. Simmonds was fully engaged with Connor Carrick but he managed to pull Erskine down from behind just as Lecavalier landed a direct right to Erskine's face. Sure it's a third-man-in. Sure it's illegal. But it was very well done.
