Sloane Stephens is an American tennis player and she is all over the sports page this week. The Coral Springs native is one of three American women in the US Open quarterfinals, the first time since 2004.

Great news for everyone state side, the US open is always more interesting when American’s are doing well and Stephen’s doing this well is a surprise. Considering she missed the 11 months due to a stress-fracture in her right foot.

While she was in a walking boot she worked for the Tennis Channel and found the experience changed her view of the game.

Stephen’s has been rounding into form, her first match back was a straight-set loss at Wimbledon. However, in Toronto earlier this summer she advanced to the semifinals and saw her ranking jump 874 spots. At the beginning of the tournament, she was ranked 83rd heading into the event.

It isn’t a surprise that Stephens is an athlete based on her family lineage, her mother was the first African-American female swimmer to be named First-Team All-American in Division 1 history and her father was a first round draft pick by the New England Patriots in 1988 and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The 24-year-old has a career singles record of 225-152 (59.68 percent). The highest she has ever ranked is 11th back in 2013. Stephens has one career ITF titles and four WTA titles.

Here are some of the highlights from her Instagram page and random pictures from around the internet.
