Serena Williams might be the most dominat athlete in all of sports. When healthy there isn’t anyone in women’s tennis that can match her. She’s won more prize money than any other female tennis player and that number is only going to increase in coming years.
Simply put she’s bigger and stronger than everyone else. Her combination of powerful ground shots and accuracy mixed with an underrated defensive game and you have a living legend.
That isn’t to say she is necessarily a beloved figure. The 34-year old doesn’t always lose with grace and her sportsmanship has repeatedly been called into question. This doesn’t bother me so much as I don’t really care about sportsmanship in professional sports, I’m not encouraging athletes to embarrass themselves when they lose. But we all have bad days and luckily for most of us there isn’t a camera broadcasting it live. Serena isn’t always keen to apologize for her behavior, which is a polarizing character trait, that can grind on people in the prim and proper world of tennis.
Serena’s dominance and colorful fashion on the court has collected her millions in endorsement dollars with companies such as Nike, Gatorade, Aston Martin, Beats by Dre headphones and Chase Bank. In her personal life she is currently linked to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and in the past been linked to celebrities like Drake, Amar’e Stoudemire, Common, Corey Maggette and Brett Ratner.
