During Thursday night’s game between the Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians, Rougned Odor was trying to break up a double play and slid hard into Jason Kipnis covering second base. Kipnis was knocked off balance but was able to complete the double play. The play seemed similar to a situation that occurred earlier in the season that helped set off the Bautista/Odor incident.

Kipnis made it clear quickly that he didn’t want any of those problems as he tapped Odor on the shoulder and slowly backed away with a smirk on his face, obviously reminded of what happened to Joey Bats earlier this season. No one enjoyed it more than Adrian Beltre and Nomar Mazara on the Rangers bench.

No matter what happens the rest of the season no one is going to want anything to do with angry Odor, he’s proven without a shadow of doubt that he isn’t a dude you want to mess with. Jalen Rose likes to talk about the athletes that are ‘hold me back tough guys and Odor has proven forever that he isn’t.

Bonus points for Jason Kipnis bringing some levity into baseball, always good to see players on both sides of the diamond laughing.
