Like soccer in Brazil, football in Texas and beer pong in state universities; high school baseball is a pretty big deal in Japan. Sunday afternoon, Komatsu Otani were up 8-0 over Seiryo going into the 9th inning, with a trip to the Summer Koshien for the winner - high school national championship and the largest amateur sporting event in Japan.

In the 9th inning things got a little crazy, then very crazy and stunningly sad or exhilarating bliss depending on your point of view. Seiryo scored six straight runs before recording the first out of the inning and kept the momentum to pull ahead 9-8 and win the game.

Today Jimmy Dugan there is crying in baseball.
