On Sunday in Boston was the, much anticipated, return of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. They were the cornerstones of a team who, despite winning only one championship together, were at or near the top of the league every year while together.
They took the city of Boston on a roller coaster ride of emotions and, at a time when the Red Sox and Patriots were ruling the local sports scene, they re-kindled New England's love for the "Green and White".
Here are the in-stadium tributes that the team did for both players:
My big question is...where is the Jason Terry tribute? Maybe they didn't want his tribute to be overshadowed. They'll get him next time.
In all seriousness, Kevin Garnett deserves a video tribute and will probably have his jersey number retired by the Celtics at some point, but Paul Pierce was the main attraction on Sunday. The people of Boston love that guy. He represents them in a way not many elite athletes can do. He isn't the biggest...he isn't the fastest...he isn't the strongest...but he will go to war every night and leave every ounce of his talent on the floor.
Here is the TV feed for the Pierce tribute. You get to see more crowd reactions in this version. The girl at 3:10 needs to pull herself together.
