It’s been a terrible month for former second round pick Roberto Aguayo. The most accurate kicker in college football history was drafted considerably earlier than he should have been and since entering the NFL has failed to live up to expectations. The former Florida State kicker was released after he missed an extra point and field goal in the Buccaneers preseason opener against the Bengals.
Aguayo's journey is disappointing because he had such lofty expectations placed on him since day one. He was mocked and condemned by fans, all the way until being dumped by the club. Even his teammates were trolling him his final days of training camp.
His departure became even more awkward as HBO cameras were there to capture it all for their series ‘Hard Knocks.’
Aguayo was claimed by the Chicago Bears off waivers earlier this week. Hopefully, he can figure things out over there and get his mojo back.
