New York Yankees’ designated hitter Chase Headley was hit by a pitch in the absolute worst place possible on Tuesday night.
The catastrophe happened in the bottom of the fifth inning against the Twins. Headley was the recipient of an 87.9-mph pitch from Minnesota reliever Dillon Gee.

This isn’t the kind thing anyone should laugh at or get any type of pleasure over.
Yankees announcers Paul O’Neill and Michael Kay, were shaken by the play and things got really uncomfortable in the booth.

I understand their silence but disagree with the idea that Headley wasn’t wearing a cup. The idea that he took that pitch to the groin and didn’t immediately drop to the ground in agony is a solid sign he had a cup on.
If he wasn’t wearing a cup he got a special type of luck, because that appeared to be a direct hit.
